Alfama district

Alfama district is the oldest district of Lisbon, and it spreads down the southern slope of the city from the Castle of São Jorge to the River Tagus. Its name, comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, which means fountains or baths. Easy and beautiful to walk with its narrow streets and small squares, it is an historical quarter full of Fado (Portuguese style of melancholy music) bars, and restaurants.

 

Lisbon
